After six months of intense planning and programming, the winning team of the Mobile App Challenge at the University of California, Merced, will be announced during a showcase finale April 26.

Sustainability being a campus hallmark, it’s no surprise the UC Merced campus takes Earth Day very seriously, even though the events planned are fun.

Each April 22, people around the country mark Earth Day, which began in 1970 and is seen by many as the start of the modern environmental movement.

UC Merced artists are sharing their best work this semester in the eighth annual Bobcat Art Show.

The exhibit runs from April 1 to May 2 and entries can be seen at the Leo and Dottie Kolligian Library and the UC Merced Art Gallery in the Social Sciences and Management Building, Room 106.

Retired astronaut and engineer Jose Hernandez and acclaimed author and organic farmer David Mas Masumoto will deliver keynote addresses at the University of California, Merced’s eighth commencement exercises May 18 and 19.

With more than 900 students eligible to graduate, this year marks the largest graduating class in UC Merced’s history.

As a result of such growth, the campus plans two school-based ceremonies to accommodate students and their families.

A pioneering American novelist and a former California Poet Laureate will be the keynote speakers at two April events being organized by graduate students and faculty in World Cultures.

Researchers at the university in your backyard are delving into issues of great importance to the San Joaquin Valley, the state, the nation and the world.

MERCED, Calif. — UC Merced honored the Pacific Gas and Electric Company with the School of Engineering’s inaugural Vanguard Award today with a special ceremony to thank the company for all it has done for engineering students.

A powerful one-woman play that explores the troubling world of physical and sexual abuse debuts Feb. 23 as part of Arts UC Merced Presents.

“Black n Blue Boys/Broken Men,” written and performed by actress/poet/playwright Dael Orlandersmith, tells the often difficult and uncomfortable stories of six boys and men who have seen, suffered or committed abuse.

The 2012 play has been performed only at two other venues — the Berkeley Repertory Theatre and the Goodman Theatre in Chicago — and is so new that the script hasn’t yet been published.
