UC Merced's annual month-long fundraising campaign, Give to UC Merced, wrapped up on Dec. 31, 2022, as the most successful in the initiative's history. The effort eclipsed the original goal of $150,000 to raise $952,000 in financial support for students, faculty, research, programs, departments and schools throughout the university.

For the first time, UC Merced made its way to Chavez Ravine for the Bobcats at Dodger Stadium alumni event on Sept. 6. Alums from several classes had the chance to catch the Los Angeles Dodgers take on the San Francisco Giants. In the end, the Boys in Blue were victorious, 6-3.

Month-long Give to UC Merced 2022 Launches on Giving Tuesday

     On Tuesday, Nov. 29, UC Merced will kick off the season of giving by launching Give to UC Merced 2022. The campus’s annual fundraising initiative officially begins on Giving Tuesday — the traditional day of philanthropic support held the Tuesday after the Thanksgiving holiday — and lasts until the end of December. This marks the third year in a row that UC Merced is extending the campaign from its original 24-hour period to an entire month.

At a kickoff event for UC Merced’s first comprehensive fundraising campaign, the university announced that it has doubled the campaign’s fundraising goal from $100 million to $200 million by the year 2030.

Fred and Mitzie Ruiz Honored for Transformational Gift with Named Administration Center

Fred and Mitzie Ruiz, longtime UC Merced donors and two of the university’s most active and earliest supporters, have made a significant gift to name the campus’ administration building and enrollment center.

In honor of their philanthropic leadership, the facility will be named the Fred and Mitzie Ruiz Administration Center. As a hub of campus business and activities, the Ruiz Administration Center will help establish a lasting legacy that embodies its namesakes’ dedication to both UC Merced and the San Joaquin Valley.

The White House announced today (Sept. 2) a $65.1 million award — the largest federal grant ever awarded to the Central Valley — to the Fresno-Merced Future of Food Innovation (F3) Coalition as part of its "Build Back Better" initiative to boost economic recovery after the pandemic.
