Campus Provides ‘Inclusive Excellence’ Dialogue, Activities

Social Justice Initiatives and the Office of Campus Climate will host “Talking Circles,” a space to create dialogue about inclusive opportunities at UC Merced, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 20. The space is open to the campus community for reflection, quiet contemplation, crafting and individual connection.

Merced 2020 Project Earns Thomson Reuters Award

The Merced 2020 Project — UC Merced’s unprecedented, $1.3 billion campus expansion plan — has been named the “Americas P3 Deal of the Year” in Thomson Reuters’ Project Finance International (PFI) Awards.

Campus Named to Carnegie List of Research Universities

The University of California, Merced, has been designated a “doctoral-granting university with higher research activity” — or R2, the second-highest classification for American research universities — in its first appearance on the highly cited Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.

The R2 classification recognizes UC Merced as a selective institution that awards more than 20 doctoral degrees, primarily in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Six UC Merced Students Awarded UC Food Initiative Fellowships

As part of the University of California Global Food Initiative, 54 students — including six from UC Merced—have been awarded fellowships to fund projects that will address issues ranging from community gardens and food pantries to urban agriculture and food waste.
