School of Engineering

Professor Ala Qattawi is one of many female engineers on campus, but the only one with a degree in automotive engineering. She lends her expertise to problems of design and manufacturing.

The School of Engineering's mission is to change the region and world through its research, education and service. The school's intellectual environment supports projects that can affect and transform society, from robotics and drones to environmental systems that could save the planet and bioengineering that could save lives.

Engineering students have unique opportunities to learn from world-renowned faculty members in small-classroom settings. Engineering programs are on the cutting edge, with projects and studies that combine advanced scientific technology with an understanding of the theory and problem-solving skills that are key to success in any related field.

Each year, undergraduate students showcase their innovative work in the capstone program, which has them coming up with workable solutions to real problems facing California businesses and nonprofits.
