A Tradition of Knowledge: Research Week 2008
UC Merced accomplishes a lot through teaching and community service, but its primary function is that of a research university.
To help the community understand what that means, UC Merced started a new tradition in spring 2007 – Research Day, when students and the general public can explore what researchers on campus are studying and begin to imagine the effects their discoveries might have.
This year, the event has been expanded to an entire week highlighting research activities and displaying student research posters.
“This is our way of opening up the campus so that people can see what drives virtually all learning at UC Merced – the research performed by our exceptional professors and other researchers,” said Vice Chancellor for Research Sam Traina.
You are invited to visit the campus for the events of Research Week beginning Tuesday, March 4, 2008.
