Staff Appreciation Week Includes Public Events

June 7, 2009

UC Merced’s Staff Assembly knows that staff make a difference on this campus, which is why the organization hosts Staff Appreciation Week every summer. This year’s celebration begins June 8, and the public is invited to participate in several events.

Tuesday’s Cat Closet Sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the first floor of the Leo and Dottie Kolligian Library gives employees and community members the opportunity to browse through the gently worn clothing donated by staff members. With each item selling for $1, it’s an affordable way to go home with a new wardrobe! All proceeds will be put toward the organization’s scholarship fund.

On Thursday, everyone (public included) is welcome to drive up Scholars Lane from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m., when volunteers will accept food donations without drivers even leaving their cars. Also, stop by the Joseph Edward Gallo Recreation and Wellness Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and donate blood.

UC Merced staff members – don’t forget about free coffee and pastries outside of the Lantern on Monday, Central Plant tours on Tuesday and Thursday, Wednesday’s ice cream social and staff talent show, and Friday’s Staff Appreciation Picnic with free food, entertainment, prizes and awards.
