Preview Day at UC Merced Offers Prospective Students a Taste of Campus Life

MERCED - When it comes to choosing the right college campus,
seeing is believing. That’s why the University of California,
Merced, hosts
Preview
Day
each fall.

The annual open house - on Saturday, Oct. 17 this year – allows
high school and community college students, and their families, the
opportunity to learn about UC Merced and see everything the campus
has to offer in a single day.

“UC Merced offers a student experience like no other
university,” said Alejandro Delgadillo, associate director of
admissions and outreach. “Preview Day gives prospective students
the chance to experience our campus even before they apply.”

Open to anyone interested in learning more about UC Merced,
Preview Day features free food, academic presentations, workshops
and more. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about majors
in the university’s three schools -
Engineering;
Natural
Sciences
; and
Social Sciences, Humanities and
Arts
. A student panel will share their thoughts on life at UC
Merced. There will also be representatives from
admissionsand
financial aidto
help
prospective
students
and their families understand the application process.

The priority filing period for fall 2010 admission to the
University of California is Nov. 1 through 30. Prospective students
can begin the application process online now by visiting

, saving the application to submit in November.

Preview Day runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17.
