Why I'd Still Choose UC Merced

Why I'd Still Choose UC Merced

Several students on campus were asked: Why should next year’s class choose UC Merced?

There are so many opportunities and new activities to be a part of at UC Merced. You also get a lot of one-on-one attention from the professors, T.A’s and tutors. There is not another UC where you will find a professor helping students prepare for an exam on a Sunday. The people here are so great; I have found such good friends within the two months I’ve been here. We have the best dorm any school can possibly have!

- Jas Grewal, Fresno

UC Merced is really different from the other UC campuses because it’s so small. It’s really easy to get the personal attention and help that would otherwise be very difficult at another UC. In other words, you won’t get ‘lost in the crowd’ here. I have had nothing but good experiences with the professor’s and the staff, it seems like everyone sees that it is just as much their responsibility that you succeed here, as it is your own.

- Andrew Mamalis, Manteca

UC Merced was not my top choice. I visited the campus and researched facts and information, but I did not want to go here. My mom pushed me to go here and now I am glad. Not only is it full of academic opportunities, but it is nice to go to a smaller school where everyone knows everyone so you are not just another face in the crowd.

- Nicky Cruz, Davis

UC Merced classes are instructed by some of the best professors in the world. We are a growing campus so students have an opportunity to be in smaller classes in comparison to other campuses. Because we are a new campus, UC Merced also gives incoming students the opportunity to be the founders of their own clubs and to introduce new traditions.

- Christina Perez, Merced

To be part of a new legacy. To build upon the efforts of those from before, which will improve the foundation for those in the future. - Joshua Bolin, Yuba City
