Peer Learning Support Boosts Student Success

From the moment students walk onto campus, they have access to countless resources, including the Peer Assisted Support Learning Support (PALS) program, which is part of the Calvin E. Bright Success Center.

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to stop by the California Room from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on April 22 to learn more about the services PALS provides and enjoy food, games and prizes. Learning assistants and staff members will be available to talk about the program’s resources.

Campus Forges Partnership with Kathmandu University

The University of California, Merced, entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Kathmandu University during a ceremony in Nepal on Thursday, Feb. 26, laying the foundation for future collaborations between the two fast-growing institutions. 
 
The MOU marks the first formal step in the relationship between UC Merced and Kathmandu University, with the two schools agreeing to explore faculty, staff and student exchanges, joint research projects, the exchange of academic publications and information, and the promotion of other academic activities.

Gift Establishes UC Merced Presidential Chair in the Humanities

The University of California, Merced, will soon benefit from increased leadership in the humanities, thanks to an anonymous $500,000 donation and a $500,000 match from the UC Office of the President.
 
The gift and match will establish a $1 million endowment to fund the UC Merced Presidential Chair in the Humanities. The chair will provide leadership and vision for humanities research at UC Merced, said Mark Aldenderfer, dean of the School of Social Sciences Humanities and Arts.
