Matt Creeger

Name: Matt Creeger

Age: 23
Hometown: Mission Viejo, CA
Major: Psychology

What are your post-graduation plans? After graduation, I’ll take a year off from school to gain some hands-on work experience in the field of public policy. After that, I plan on going to law school with a focus on international law.

Where do you want to be in five years? Right now I’d say that in five years I’d like to be involved in foreign policy or foreign relations. However, five years ago, I never thought I would be where I am today. So I’m going to continue in a positive direction with the overall goal of waking up every day and being excited to go to work.

How did UC Merced help prepare you for your future? The opportunities and guidance I was provided at UC Merced has fostered a personal growth that I doubt could have occurred anywhere else; whether it was doing research with a professor, being external vice-president of the student body or playing on the UC Merced baseball team. I’m confident that the leadership, research and life skills I’ve acquired here form the base needed for success in the future.

What advice would you offer to incoming students? First, stay organized and try not to get behind in your classes (which will probably happen before you know it). Second, not everyone knows exactly what to do with their lives and that’s fine. It’s important though, to keep your eyes open and try new things to form an idea of where your interests lie. The trick is to find what you’re most passionate about and do it for the rest of your life. The last thing you want to do is wake up at age 65 and wonder why you spent countless 9-to-5 days doing something you don’t believe in or care about.

I-Lung Hsu

Name: I-Lung Hsu

Age: 23
Hometown: Foster City, CA

What are your post-graduation plans? Applying for job. I hope to gain some working experience before pursuing my graduate study.

Where do you want to be in five years? Working in a job that I love and gaining the experience through my position to make my job a challenging career.

How did UC Merced help prepare you for your future? Because of the small student body, most of the staff and faculty members are available for one-on-one appointments, for advising and guidance.

What advice would you offer to incoming students? Don't be afraid to ask questions.

Christina Seronello

Where do you want to be in five years? I plan to be in graduate school.

How did UC Merced help prepare you for your future? The contact with and advice from professors is invaluable. I have learned to appreciate subjects I would not have taken elsewhere.

Larry Johnson

Name: Janette Ramirez
