The Wellness Center Tenant Improvement project is focused on providing more space for health services, for the growing population of students. The first floor, formally office space for the athletics department, will be renovated into a counseling center. This will provide for more meeting space, for counseling staff and the students to meet one on one. Minor mechanical modifications will need to be made in order to accommodate the new office walls, doors, hardware, and sidelights where new offices are being built. The reception space will also include a new reception counter and casework.
The second floor health center will be adding two new exam rooms, as well as a few more offices to keep up with the growing needs of the students. The added offices will house the additional staff being brought on by the department as well. The new exam rooms will require new casework with storage above and below the counter, along with plumbing for the sinks added to the new exam rooms. Plumbing will also be needed in the hallway adjacent to the restrooms, for the new hydration station. Another hydration station will also be installed in the waiting area, in place of the existing high-low drinking fountain. Both will be in keeping with ADA requirements. Casework and new carpet will be installed in the reception area. Minor mechanical modifications will also be done to accommodate proper heating and cooling to the new added office spaces and exam rooms. Finally new tiles (same as the existing) will be added in the interior hallway of the health center, since the hall is being extended.
