
In support of the campus's focus on sustainability, the committee has decided to go green this year. Instead of stuffing envelopes, all information will be sent through a campus announcement email. Since 2001, UC Merced has managed an annual campaign to raise funds for the United Way of Merced County. UC Merced's United Way campaign kick off event yesterday raised $3,515.00 for United Way of Merced through the second annual Chili Cook-off/Bread Bake-off and prize drawing. This year's event had 13 chili entries and 13 bread entries. Over 250 employees attended the event. The campaign committee would like to thank all of the participants for making this year's event a huge success.

Last year's campaign was a great success, raising more than $33,400, a 15 percent increase over 2011's campaign. This amount placed UC Merced in the top five Merced County companies with the most employees supporting United Way.
