May 9, 2008

UC Merced has received $4.36 million from the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine for a Stem Cell Instrumentation foundry.

The facility will offer customizable lab-on-a-chip devices for stem cell researchers. It is planned to be up and running in the next two years. The primary architects of the proposal were Dean Maria Pallavicini of the School of Natural Sciences and Professor Michelle Khine of the School of Engineering.
