The University of California Regents this week
approved continued planningfor a
UC Merced School of
Medicineslated to open in 2013. The school is planned using an
innovative, yet proven distributed model, leveraging existing
resources and helping future doctors experience diverse, real-world
medical challenges during their education. It is strongly supported
in the Central Valley as a solution for serious and growing
shortages of medical providers as well as a needed boost for the
regional economy.
