Application Workshops for Fall 2006 Hosted in Fresno and Bakersfield

October 6, 2005
Prospective Freshman and Transfer Students Invited to Free Events in Fresno and Bakersfield

MERCED, Calif. — The University of California's online application period for Fall 2006 is just around the corner. To assist prospective freshman and transfer students interested in applying for admission this November, UC Merced is hosting several application workshops in Fresno and Bakersfield.

Workshops are scheduled on Oct. 15 and Nov. 19 at the UC Merced Center in Fresno and on Nov. 14 and 19 at the UC Center in Bakersfield. These programs are timed to coincide with the priority undergraduate application period for Fall 2006, which runs from Nov. 1-30, 2005.

Presented by the UC Merced Office of Admissions/Relations with Schools and Colleges, these free programs will help guide students through the online application process. Advisors will be on hand to answer questions and offer tips on writing an effective personal statement, which is a required element of the UC application.

In addition to students planning to apply for Fall 2006 admission to UC Merced, parents, teachers and counselors are encouraged to attend. Students should bring to the workshop their unofficial high school transcript, a copy of their high school's UC A-G course list and any questions.

Anyone interested in attending one of the four workshops is encouraged to R.S.V.P., as space is limited. For more information and to R.S.V.P., please call (209) 381-7880 for the Fresno workshops, (661) 861-7955 for the Bakersfield workshops or (866) 270-7301 toll free for any of the workshops.
