Pathways Conferences in Fresno and Stockton for Valley High School Juniors

April 16, 2004

In the coming weeks San Joaquin Valley students who are currently high school juniors and their parents will have the opportunity to attend special conferences sponsored by UC Merced's Office of Admissions/Relations with Schools & Colleges. At the conference, they will receive a personal evaluation of their UC Merced eligibility and receive key points to help ensure their greatest opportunity for being selected into the new research university. The conferences will be hosted in Fresno and Stockton. Students from throughout the Valley are encouraged to attend. Bilingual interpreters in Spanish and Hmong will be available at both sessions.

In addition, students and parents will meet with faculty members and receive information including academic majors, housing, student life, financial aid and other important topics.

High school juniors who are on track with completing their required A-G courses with a minimum of a 3.0 GPA are invited to attend one of the half-day conferences with their parents.

A Student Registration Form must be completed ahead of time and returned to UC Merced's Office of Admissions/Relations with Schools & Colleges, by the deadline. In addition, an unofficial transcript for each registered student must be included with the form.

Once students are registered for the conference, they will be assigned to one of the following sessions:

  • Morning session: 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Afternoon session: 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Fresno - Saturday, April 24 ( registration deadline April 20)
