Working at UC Merced
The success of UC Merced continues to depend heavily on the recruitment of dedicated educators, researchers, administrators and others.
UC Merced has a firm commitment and a fundamental need to recruit, develop and maintain a workforce that meets the needs of a dynamic academic institution and in building a community that will support the quest for knowledge at UC Merced. UC Merced has already assembled a team of dedicated administrators, faculty and staff members who are working together to create the new university.
UC Merced already employs hundreds of people and is the largest employer in Merced County. At its opening in September 2005, the university was home to 55 core faculty. That number continues to grow, as do the ranks of staff needed to support the university's academic enterprise. By 2010, UC Merced is projected to have about 250 faculty members.
