Research Interests

Professor Dayrat’s research primarily focuses on the systematics and evolution of mollusks at the species level, as well as at higher phylogenetic levels. He uses his empirical studies to tackle broader issues of general interest for other systematists and evolutionary biologists, such as species delineation, biological nomenclature, and macro-evolutionary transitions. Professor Dayrat is also interested in the history and philosophy of science, which helps understand the depth of scientific concepts and can also lead to challenge current practices and ideas.
