Professor Vevea research interests are in the statistical analysis of difficult or unusual problems in psychology and education, as well as developing new statistical methods for problems that do not yet have good solutions. He is particularly active in the field of meta-analysis, working on issues related to random- and mixed-effects statistical models and on the problem of publication bias. He is also active in item response theory.
